Demon Slayer Season 2 Officially Confirmed + Release Date Info

The anime adaptation of Demon Slayer will receive a second season in 2021, it was officially announced on February 14, 2021, as part of the Demon Slayer Matsuri Online-Anime 2nd Anniversary Festival live stream, but when will Demon Slayer season 2 be released, and what will the plot be about?

Here’s everything we know so far regarding the new season of Demon Slayer and when it will be released.

The anime series Demon Slayer, also known as Kimetsu no Yaiba in Japanese, is based on a successful manga of the same name that was first published in 2016. The Demon Slayer manga series is written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge.

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular Shōnen anime series loved by people worldwide, which follows Tanjiro Kamado, who strives to become a demon slayer after his family was slaughtered and his younger sister Nezuko turned into a demon.

The anime television series Demon Slayer has only had one season so far, along with a movie called Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and animated by Studio Ufotable. The studio and director are both returning for the second season.

The first 26-episode Demon Slayer television anime series premiered in Japan in April 2019. Since then, this series has become one of the most popular anime franchises ever in Japan, with a large fan base that is still waiting patiently for Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 1.

Release Date For Demon Slayer Season 2

Season 2 starts on October 10th with an original episode, then episodes 2-7 are Infinity Train in anime format with new scenes and the LISA opening, and episode 8 on December 5th is the official start of Season 2 with a new Aimer opening.

The first new episode 8 will also be an hour long which is fantastic. If you just want to watch the continuation of the story, then you need to wait until December, sadly, but if you don’t mind rewatching the movie in anime format, then it’s just a few days since season 2 of Demon Slayer starts.

The first few episodes are the movie in anime format because the movie was a direct continuation of the anime. So if studio Ufotable didn’t adapt it into an anime format, a lot of people would be a little confused.

Demon Slayer Season 2 Plot

So far, the anime adaptation of Demon Slayer has covered volumes 1 to 6. The movie covered the whole volume 7 and almost the whole volume 8. As a result, volume 9 continues where the anime ends. So, if you can’t wait for Demon Slayer Season 2 to be out, you may start reading volume 9 now, but you should read volume 8 as well.

In Japan, there are 23 volumes of Demon Slayer released. Demon Slayer’s manga is already finished in 2021. That means the story is completed. Demon Slayer Season 2 will take the story forward and it’s expected to cover the ending of manga volumes 8 and 9 to 11 also known as the red-light district.

So three more volumes of Demon Slayer will be adapted into anime by studio Ufotable. It will take two more two-cour seasons after that to adapt everything from the Demon Slayer franchise that is available. Season 3 of Demon Slayer will happen, so no worries there. Once it’s announced on the official Demon Slayer Twitter account, we will let you know.

Last Thoughts on Demon slayer Season 2

Because of the current epidemic in Japan, many anime series are being adapted worse than they would be otherwise. Fortunately, the Demon Slayer studio, Ufotable, is one of the best, so the animation quality should not suffer. It should look as good as, if not better than, the first season.
