This arc is a fan favorite for a reason, filled with intense Parts Wars, deeper character development for Kazu and Onigiri, and a much darker, more serious tone than the first season. We would’ve also been properly introduced to Kururu Sumeragi, the “Pledge Queen,” a crucial character left out of the anime.
What About the Air Gear OVAs?
Ah, the Air Gear: Break on the Sky OVAs. These three episodes, made by a different studio (Satelight) in 2010, are a weird and wonderful tease of what could have been. Instead of continuing the story, they adapted chapters from much later in the manga, specifically the insane battle between Kogarasumaru and the original Sleeping Forest. While the animation is a huge step up, watching them without reading the manga is just confusing. They’re a painful reminder of the incredible action we missed.

A reboot could finally do justice to the entire manga, from start to finish, without being tied to the 2006 series.
Who Would Return for a New Season?
Honestly, probably no one from the original production. Toei Animation has long since moved on. If a reboot were to happen, it would almost certainly be handled by a new studio and feature a completely new cast and crew. The voice actors would likely be recast to match modern sensibilities, and a new director would bring a fresh vision to the world of Storm Riders. It would be a total reset, for better or worse.
