The manga series ended in 2006. There have been no new developments since then. Only the Netflix adaptation, but we don’t talk about that. While it’s not impossible, a new season might not happen because the story is completed so it doesn’t need one.

The anime skipped scenes during the Yotsuba arc and basically cut Near and Mello’s screentime in half. They also removed a lot of Light’s scenes and completely got rid of the epilogue.
