Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Story
Created by the brilliant Rifujin na Magonote, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a captivating story that follows the journey of a 34-year-old NEET.
Following his eviction from his home after his parents pass away, the protagonist resolves to do a last good deed by rescuing teenagers from an oncoming truck.
Instead of dying, he is reborn as a baby in a new fantasy world, where he starts his life again.
His new name, Rudeus Greyrat, allows him to lead a new successful life. In this new world full of magic, he sets up to become a magic user, but nothing ever goes as planned.
The author started this series as a web novel series, like many other isekai series, and later released it as a light novel series. The first volume came out in January 2014.
There have been 26 volumes published of the Mushoku Tensei light novel series in Japan. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the series in North America.
So far, the first season did adapt volumes 1 to 6, so if you want to continue the story from where the first season ended, have a look at Mushoku Tensei Light Novel Volume 7 in English.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation light novel ended with Volume 26, but the author plans a new work in the same world.
I highly recommend checking out all the Mushoku Tensei books if you are a fan of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. There are also multiple spin-offs, including different manga.
A Closer Look at Jobless Reincarnation’s Success
The anime, produced by Studio Bind, aired in 2021 as a split cour. The series directed is Manabu Okamoto, who has worked on The [email protected] Cinderella Girls: U149 and Gamers.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is considered one of the best Isekai stories that got anime adaption so far. For many anime fans, this was the top anime of the 2021 Winter Anime Season.
Mushoku Tensei has become a success, with over 10 million copies of the light novels sold as of February 2022. The Blu-ray sales are also around 5,000 copies per volume, which is fantastic for 2021.
There are also more than 30 figures and 400 pieces of merchandise. That’s not bad, but people often compare this series to Re Zero, which has 700 figurines and 4,000 gods.
Among the figures available, the Grey Rat Swinsuit Version, Roxy Migurdia Nendoroid, and Roxy Migurdia PVC Statue are particularly awesome.
In March 2021, a mobile game based on Mushoku Tensei came out for Android and iOS devices. However, an announcement in July 2021 revealed that the game’s service would end in 2022.
Overall, it’s clear this is a profitable series, but it’s far from other huge isekai series like Konosuba, Re Zero, or Slime.
